The HealthLeaders Media Marketing Awards celebrate the best results-based hospital marketing campaigns, and new for 2009, the best physician practice and health plan marketing campaigns. A panel of judges chooses the winners using criteria that emphasizes ROI, not just campaigns that look nice. Winners are revealed at a ceremony during the HealthLeaders Media Marketing Experience, a day-long program that includes guest speakers, frank discussions with marketing directors, hands-on activities that inspire, and a chance to see the best hospital marketing campaign creative to gain new ideas and inspiration for your future marketing efforts.

Who is eligible to enter?
All hospitals that produce hospital advertising, physician practices and health plans may enter. Advertising agencies that work with these types of organizations may also submit campaigns on their behalf. Also, non-hospital organizations may enter if the organizationhas licensed beds and offers an inpatient service.
Can health plans and physician practices enter into any category?
No. To keep things fair, health plans may only enter the Best Health Plan Campaign category and physician practices may only enter the Best Physician Practice Campaign category. The remaining categories are reserved for hospitals and health systems only.
What campaigns are eligible?
To be eligible, campaigns must have launched in the 2008 calendar year. “Launch” refers to the public rollout of the campaign, not when work on the campaign commenced.
Do small organizations compete against large organizations?
Awards are given based on hospital size, so you’ll be competing against other organizations in your general size class. There are three class sizes: Small (fewer than 100 beds), Medium (101-499 beds), and Large (500 or more beds). Judges will attempt to assign Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Distinguished Awards in each category for each of these class sizes.
Can I enter more than once, enter more than one campaign?
Yes! You may submit multiple campaigns for consideration; however, each individual campaign may only be entered into one category.
What is the deadline for submitting entries?
All entries must be postmarked by May 29, 2009. No entries will be accepted past this deadline and no exceptions will be made.
What’s the fee for entries?
Entry fees are $195 for each entry and are non-refundable. Payment is expected with submission of your entry. A payment coupon is included on the Campaign Entry Submission Form. You can pay by credit card, check (made payable to HealthLeaders Media), or choose the “Bill Me” option to receive an invoice for payment. Payment must be received by May 29, 2009, or your entry may be disqualified.
Do I have to pay for shipping?
Only if you are also purchasing the Hospital Campaigns That Work book. If not, you only need to pay the $195 entry fee.
What if my organization needs a W-9 from HealthLeaders so I can get a check for the entry fee?
Send us a message requesting a W-9 via the Contact Us page and we will send you one. The W-9 will be from HCPro Inc., the parent company of HealthLeaders Media.
Where do I send my entries?
Completed entries must be mailed to HealthLeaders Media Marketing Awards, 200 Hoods Lane, Marblehead, MA 01945. See the Campaign Entry Submission Form for complete instructions.
Will my entries be returned to me?
Entries cannot be returned; they become the property of HealthLeaders Media.
How should I prepare my electronic files?
When submitting press-ready files, adhere to the following requirements:
Embed all fonts and font subsets
Convert all color to CMYK color space (US Web Coated SWOP v2 CMYK profile preferred)
Full bleed documents should include a .125″ bleed (with .125″ offset crop marks)
All graphics should be at high resolution 300 dpi
When submitting video, audio, or digital submissions:
All video submissions must be in .mov format. (Not in .mpg, or .avi formats. FLV and WMV are acceptable but not desirable.)
All audio submissions need to be in MP3 format
All submissions should be full size, no smaller than 720×480
All banner ads should be submitted as .swf files
All files should be submitted on CD. Sorry, we cannot accept DVDs
How will I know you have received my entries?
An email confirmation will be sent to the main contact person for each of your entries (as designated on the Campaign Entry Submission Form).
On what criteria will campaigns be judged?

When and how will the winners be announced?
Judging will take place this summer. All finalists will be notified in beginning July 2009. Winners for each category will be revealed at the HealthLeaders Media Marketing Experience event in Chicago on Oct. 14, 2009 at The Palmer House.
If my entry is a finalist, am I obligated to attend the Awards Event to receive the award?
No, you’re not required to attend to accept your award, but we hope that you do!
Who attends the Awards?
All healthcare marketing professionals are welcome to attend. Hospital marketing professionals and members of their partnering creative agencies typically attend to network and learn about the ins-and-outs of award-winning campaigns in a setting more intimate than a traditional, large industry conference. Many healthcare organizations bring their teams.
Not qualified to attend the 2009 HealthLeaders Media Marketing Experience live event program: analysts, venture capitalists, sales, marketing or consulting staff from non-sponsoring vendor companies. Additional criteria for qualification are available upon request. We thank you for your understanding as we maintain the quality of this audience.

What are the prizes?
Winners who attend the live event in Chicago on Oct. 14, 2009 at The Palmer House will receive one complimentary glass Award trophy. All winners will receive recognition of their achievement in HealthLeaders magazine, its related Web sites, and be featured in the annual Hospital Campaigns That Work product, published by HealthLeaders Media. Additional glass award trophies are available for purchase after the event.
Can everyone’s name be on the award?
Only the name of the facility can be on the award because of print-area restrictions (the award also will include the name of the contest category, the campaign name, and award placement). However, all of your team members’ names can be included in the annual Awards product, Hospital Campaigns That Work, published by HealthLeaders Media. Names should be listed on your submission form, but they may also be sent directly to the editor, Gienna Shaw.
Who judges the entries?

Can I change an entry once I submit it?
